Ogbemudia Eddy Uwoghiren is a Social Entrepreneur, Travel Consultant and freelance Medical Journalist with over 4 years’ experience working om Social Impact Projects covering health education and community development in Benin City, Nigeria.
Eddy is the Executive Director of LifeSaversNG, an innovative social enterprise training ordinary citizen in Basic First Aid skill with the knowledge and confidence to approach emergency conditions.
In the last three years, the organization has trained 893+ persons directly in basic first aid skills and over 2,000+ through online first aid awareness.
Currently, Eddy is supporting the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) in the COVID-19 Documentation project being implemented by the Nigerian Health Watch (NHW) where he documents weekly the experiences, challenges and achievements of frontline workers fighting COVID-19 in the Nigeria with a goal of strengthening the fight and preparing a Pandemic preparedness plan for the country and also publishing human interest stories from these experiences.
Due to his commitment in community development, he was selected into the Cohort 5 training of the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) training at the West African Leadership Centre in Accra Ghana where he was trained in Public Policy and Management.
In the summer of 2017, he was accepted into the MCW Global Young Leaders Access Program where he was trained in Social Entrepreneurship and in 2019, he became the first Nigerian to have won the prestigious Alumni Ventures Fund (AVF) from MCW Global to advance his community impact project of training citizens in Basic First Aid skills.
Over the years, he has been attended exchange program across North America, Europe, Asia and Africa for trainings in Leadership, Social Entrepreneurship and Citizen Journalism.
Currently, he is a Final Year medical student at the University of Benin and is preparing himself to redefine emergency healthcare in Nigeria so no one is left to die during the golden hour.
