Dr. Stella Chinyelu Alagbe is a graduate of Medicine and Surgery from the College of Medicine, University of Benin. Her interest in Nephrology was spurred by her first appointment as a medical officer in the first Private Dialysis Center in Lagos, Life Support Medical Center in GRA Lagos, upon completion of the mandatory NYSC program.
She started her Postgraduate training in Public health, at the College of Medicine, of the University of Lagos in 1999. This exposed her to an understanding of important health issues in the community and the problem of health care accessibility and affordability. She continued her postgraduate Residency Training in Internal Medicine and Nephrology at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital and later became a Fellow of the West African Post-graduate College upon completion of the program.
Dr. (Mrs.) Alagbe’s pursuit of knowledge took her to the prestigious University of Cape Town, South Africa in 2009, where she completed a Masters of Philosophy (MPhil) program and Certification as a Nephrology Physician [Cert, Neph (Phys) SA]. She is currently serving as a Consultant Physician/ Nephrologist and Head of Nephrology Unit at the General Hospital, Lagos.
She is married to Dr. Tunde Alagbe and they are blessed with four boys.
