Professor Jacob Olugbenga Awobusuyi

Professor Jacob Olugbenga Awobusuyi is a Professor of Medicine at the Lagos State University College of Medicine and an honorary Consultant Nephrologist with the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, Lagos. He graduated from Medical School in 1983 and obtained his Post-graduate Fellowship in Internal Medicine in 1993. Post qualification, he has provided clinical services and training in renal care medicine in both secondary and tertiary health establishments in Lagos State.
He has served on several committees in the Lagos State University College of Medicine, and in addition, as a Head of Department at the Department of Medicine in the Institution and also Dean of the Faculty of Clinical Sciences. In addition, he is a member of the Court of Governors of the Lagos State University College of Medicine.He is an examiner at parts I and II of the Internal Medicine examinations of the National Postgraduate Medical College, Nigeria, and has successfully trained many resident doctors.
He is one of the resource persons at the Nigerian Association of Nephrology annual conferences. In addition, he has served as Editor of the Association’s Journal, the Tropical Journal of Nephrology, for several years and is presently a member of its Editorial Board. He is a member of the African Association of Nephrology’s committee on haemodialysis, the Chairman of the Chronic Kidney Disease guideline review Committee, the current Vice President of the Nigerian Association of Nephrology, and the President-elect of the Transplant Association of Nigeria.
