Prof Oremosu Ademola Ayodele

Born on March 4, 1965, Professor Ademola Oremosu obtained his MB;BS degree from the University of Lagos in 1988 and later earned a Master’s in Anatomy (1993), a Ph.D. in Anatomy (2009), and a Diploma in Research Ethics. He joined the University of Lagos in 1991 as Lecturer II/Research Fellow II and rose through the ranks to become Professor of Anatomy in 2019. He is the 16th Provost of the College of Medicine, University of Lagos (CMUL) and a member of the University Governing Council.
Professor Oremosu has held several leadership roles including Coordinator and Acting Head of Anatomy, pioneer Sub-Dean of the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences, and Director of Medilag Consult where he spearheaded the establishment of a COVID-19 testing laboratory. He also served as the foundation Director of the Animal Care and Use in Research Ethics Committee, securing international certification for CMUL.
A committed academic, he has supervised over 10 Ph.D. candidates, numerous Master’s students, and taught hundreds of undergraduates. He has published over 100 papers in local and international journals, co-authored books on human embryology and financial literacy, and served as reviewer and associate editor for leading journals.
Beyond academia, Professor Oremosu has contributed nationally as a member of the MDCN accreditation team, an NUC fact-finding panelist, an INEC returning officer, and an assessor/external examiner to universities in Nigeria and South Africa. Internationally, he chairs the Education Committee of the Movement Disorders Society (African Section) and is a foundation member of the American Society for Men’s Health.He is a Fellow of several professional bodies including the Neuroscience Society of Nigeria, Anatomical Society of Nigeria, Society for Experimental and Clinical Anatomy of Nigeria, Academy of Medical Sciences, and the Nigerian Academy of Medicine.
Professor Oremosu is widely respected for his exemplary character, leadership, and mentorship. He has received numerous awards, including a 2023 Appreciation Award from the University of Lagos Office of Quality Assurance and SERVICOM. He is widely traveled, active in social and academic societies, and a proud family man.
