Ifeoma Ulasi, MBBS, MSc, FWACP, FRCP (London), FNAN, FISN, is a professor of medicine at the College of Medicine, University of Nigeria. She is affiliated with two Teaching Hospitals. She is involved in several research initiatives and projects related to kidney disease. She is passionate about preventive nephrology.
She is a highly productive researcher with over 120 publications, co-principal investigator in multiple clinical trials, including H3Africa, leads many global collaborations and serves as the Chief Physician of UNTH’s Clinical Trials Centre. She is the National Coordinating PI for Vertex Pharma’s AMPLITUDE: APOL1 Kidney Disease Study in Nigeria. As a global leader in APOL1, she co-chaired the 2024 KDIGO APOL1 Controversies Conference. She was a member of the Committee for the recently published 2024 KDIGO Guidelines for CKD.
She was a council member of The Transplantation Society representing Africa & Middle-East (2014 -2018) and is a member of the World Health Organization Transplant and Organ Donation Task Force. She is an Assoc. Editor, Transplant International Journal (2021 – till date), a member, Editorial Board of the American Journal of Kidney Disease (2017 – till date) and of the Journal of American Society of Nephrology (2023 – till date).
She is a member of many national and international professional societies. She is a wife, mother and grandmother.
