Emmanuel Chinedum Ibezim is a Professor of Pharmaceutics/Pharmaceutical Microbiology, holds 5 fellowships: FPSN, FNAPharm, FPCPharm, FNIIA, FAAN; authored 228 scientific papers, 3 professional books, a Pharmacy Dictionary; attended 171 scientific conferences, traveled to USA, Brazil, Argentina, India, France, Israel, Burundi, Ethiopia, Thailand; successfully supervised 36 Masters, 20 Doctorates and currently supervises 21 postgraduates.
He has successfully developed novel bioactives from Garcinia kola, bitterleaf, Dissotis theifolia, Dennetti tripetala, Ocimum gratissimum, Moringa oleifera, Azadirachtha indica, Euphorbia hirta, Napoleona imperialis, Kolanut, Parmelia perlata, Cryptolepis sanguinolenta, Serratia marsescens, Aloe vera and Synclisia scrabida, into standard pharmaceutical dosage forms (creams, ointments, lotions, tablets, biofilms).
He has developed standard pharmaceutical excipients from cocoyam, Prosopis africana, Afzelia africana, Cashew, Irvingia, Okro gums; Cassava, Tacca, Maize, 3-leaved yam, Wheat, Rice starches; Landolphia latex, Melon seed oil/cake, Natural clay, Beeswax, Mucin, Goatfat, Cow homolipids, Chitosan, Honey.
As past National Chairman, Nigeria Association of Pharmacists in Academia (NAPA), NAPA developed two pharmaceutical products (PINNAN, NANIP), for commercialization.
He was UNN Faculty Best Dean, two-time Associate Dean, six-time HOD, Visiting Professor (Uniuyo, DELSU, ESUT, Gregory University and ABSU); received 56 award/grants, reviewed papers for 39 journals; member of 23 professional bodies, headed several Committees/Panels; served as professorial assessor for 35 persons, PG external examiner for 35 candidates, UNN 68th Inaugural lecturer, Editorial Board member of 14 journals, Editor-in-Chief of one and former Editor-in-Chief of another.
He was Council member of PSN, PCN; served in NUC and PCN Accreditation teams, former Board member/Director of World Association of Medical Editors, former Board member, College of Medicine, UNN. He was winner, 2023 M&B Prize for Pharmacists, 2023 Henri-Boulard Prize, 2023 Tetfund NRF Research Grant, 2023 Tetfund Travel Grant.
He currently leads two research groups, with Google Scholar Citation of 1925; H-index of 24. He is the Vice Chancellor, European University of Nigeria, Abuja.
