Pharm. Markieu Janneh Kaira (FPCPharm) is the Executive Director of the Medicines Control Agency, Gambia since 2015 and established the Medicines Control Agency in March 2015. She is a pharmacist from the University of Brighton England with a diploma Business Administration from the University of South Wales.
She has served in the following capacities:
Technical adviser for the world health organization for the assessment and benchmarking of medicines regulatory authority of Liberia and Angola.
Fellow of the west African post graduate college of pharmacists (WAPCP) and served as deputy secretary general, 2nd vice president and president Member of the advisory committee of the center of innovation (CIRS) Founding Member and key participant of the W.H.O African Vaccine Regulatory Forum (AVAREF) till date.
