Joyce Batera

Joyce Batera is a Ugandan Pharmacist who graduated from Mbarara University of Science and Technology. She is a member of the Pharmaceutical Society of Uganda (PSU). She began her career as a community pharmacist, where she managed patient medication.
Transitioning into the regulatory landscape, she currently works as an Inspector of Drugs at the National Drug Authority (NDA). Over the past 5 years, she has been based at the Clinical Trials Unit under the Directorate of Product Safety where she is a reviewer of clinical trial Applications as well as a Good Clinical Practice (GCP) inspector. She has contributed to a number of clinical trials guidelines. She also performs dossier reviews of drugs for registration.
She has roles on two ongoing EDCTP grants at the National Drug Authority namely: the SECRET grant and the ACCESS Africa 2. She believes in the vital role pharmacists play in regulatory processes and looks forward to continuing her work in clinical trial regulation and contributing to the advancement of safe and effective therapies.
