Dr. Yemi R. Raji, MBChB (Ife), MSc (Mich.), FMCP (Nig.) is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Medicine, College of Medicine, University of Ibadan and Honorary Consultant Nephrologist to the University College Hospital, Ibadan, Nigeria. He graduated from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, Nigeria with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Chirogy (MBChB) in 2004 and a Master’s degree in Human Genetics from the prestigious University of Michigan, USA. Had his Residence training at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Lagos Nigeria. He became a Fellow of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria, Nephrology Subspecialty in 2011.
Dr. Raji’s research interests include genetics of kidney disease and its cardiovascular sequalae, burdens of kidney disease among the first degree relatives of patients with CKD, anaemia in chronic kidney disease, and systemic hypertension. Dr. Raji has been a Principal Investigator and Co-Investigator on many national and international research studies among which include the Humen Heredity and Health in Africa (H3Africa) Kidney Disease Research Network Project and the Genetics of Cardiometabolic Disease among Nigerians (NicGEN Study).
The H3Africa Kidney Disease study examined the genetic and environmental determinants of kidney disease among spectrum of CKD aetiology that include HIV, Hypertension, Diabetes mellitus, Glomerulonephritis and Sickle cell disease. Dr. Raji has many publications in peer review journals. He is a member of many professional organizations that include International Society of Nephrology, American Society of Nephrology, African Association of Nephrology, Nigerian Association of Nephrology, Medical and Dental Consultants’ Association of Nigeria, Nigerian Medical Association
