Prof Oliver Ezechi

Professor Oliver Chukwujekwu Ezechi is a distinguished scholar in maternal, reproductive, child health, and infectious diseases . He holds MBBS (Benin), MPA (Ife), MPH (Lagos), MSc (Lagos), MD (Nigeria), PhD (Lund), FRSPH (UK), FWACS and FMCOG (Nigeria). A fellow of the Academy of Medical Specialities of Nigeria (FAMedS) and the Nigerian Academy of Medicine (FNAMed), he serves as Director of Research and Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist at the Nigerian Institute of Medical Research (NIMR) in Lagos, and as Director of the Centre for Reproduction and Population Health Studies. He is a Professor at Lead City University, Ibadan, with adjunct professorships at the University of Calabar and Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike Abakiliki, Nigeria.
Ezechi previously chaired NIMR’s Institutional Review Board and now serves as Vice Chairman of the National Health Research Ethics Committee, while also contributing to the Lagos State Health Research Ethics Committee. His work shapes public health practice, evidence-based medicine, and reproductive medicine across Nigeria and beyond. He has authored five postgraduate books, contributed to numerous chapters, and edited three books, with over 250 peer-reviewed publications.
He is married to Dr. Lilian Ezechi, and they have three adult children: Uchenna, Ebuka, and Chijoke
