IAS Pharma 2022

As diversity, equity and inclusion in clinical research becomes more prominent, the patient community’s perspective becomes necessary to ensure trials have a truly inclusive design. The Impact Africa Summit 2022 will assemble a broad range of international subject matter experts, regulators, government officials and key stakeholders across Sub-Sahara Africa in driving equity in clinical trials with a diversity- first mindset.

Discourses will take a 360° approach to embedding diversity and inclusivity in the clinical research and trials ecosystem which is key to building trust in the coloured community, removing barriers to clinical trials enrollment and acceleration of population-specific medical advances and precision medicine.

The African continent offers a diverse patient population, as well as a comparatively research-friendly and ambitious government to develop the Africa market as pharmaceutical and health sectors of excellence. Eliminating health inequity calls for a holistic and concerted approach across the clinical development ecosystem with urgent action of diverse stakeholders across the public and private sectors. The 3-day summit will focus also on leveraging data and digital systems, building strategic partnerships and revamping processes and tools to create sustainable change.

IAS offers an excellent opportunity to engage with over 500 regional and international researchers and clinical data and registry custodians amongst other key opinion leaders. It is also an avenue to establish long term relationships with external partners and understand how decentralized trials can improve diverse representation in clinical studies. There has never been a more critical time than now to work collaboratively with stakeholders to ensure studies represent the intended patient population likely to use a medicine approved.

Nigeria will be hosting the third edition of the IAS in the city of Lagos which is the hub of historical and cultural landmarks. Enjoy the upbeat recreational centres, beaches, festivals and fascinating conservational Lekki conservation center.
